The evening provides an opportunity for parents state-wide, or even interstate, to come together in a virtual space from the comfort of their own home.

About the event

A chance to reflect on your own grief with other parents and support one another.

Geeta, who has attended a number of the Bereaved Parent Support Group evenings, shared her experience:

Being able to share (or not) brought a sense of safety in these small groups and has been a welcome space and time to look forward to sharing or contemplating our children and the effect of living without them.”

Future online bereaved parent support groups will be held on:

  • Thursday 11 July
  • Thursday 22 August
  • Thursday 10 October
  • Thursday 14 November

Creating Memories

Bereaved parents are invited to attend regular scrapbooking sessions facilitated by coordinator Gerry Silk.

About the event

Creating Memories is run jointly by Very Special Kids and Red Nose, and is a safe an informal space for parents to spend time with others in a similar situation. Scrapbooking is a unique way to preserve and enhance your valuable keepsakes, whether they are photos or memorabilia. Please bring your special photos and we will provide the tools and materials to create your pages.

A light lunch is provided, and we can provide childminding by one of our volunteers, providing you let us know in advance.

Creating Memories will be held on the following dates:

  • 5 December

Western Port Model Aircraft Club family day

Join us at Westernport Model Aircraft Club at their picturesque flying field.

About the event

Come along and try your hand at flying a remote control plane with guidance, use the flight simulator or just watch the amazing skills displayed by the pilots. Children of all abilities will have the opportunity to participate.

Bereaved Parent Weekend

The Houses Daylesford, 15 Raglan Street, Daylesford

This is a therapeutic weekend for parents to spend time remembering their child, sharing memories, joy and sadness with other parents supported by Very Special Kids in a safe and welcoming environment.

About the event

Join us at a beautiful property in Daylesford (pictured above) for our Bereaved Parent Weekend. We hope the weekend can give you an opportunity to reflect on your grief experience and connect with other parents who are also navigating life after the death of their child/ren. 

The Bereaved Parent Weekend will run from 6pm Friday 21 June to 3pm Sunday 23 June. Families will stay at The Manor or The Station House.

Meet other families and enjoy a range of activities with the Lord Somers Camp team. The camp will run from 6pm on Friday 16 February to lunchtime on Sunday 18 February.
