About the event
Does your family have siblings in primary school who would like to:
- Have some fun during the school holidays?
- Meet some other kids who ‘get it’?
- Share or learn some amazing ways to navigate life?
At our September Sibling Day, we’ll explore what being a part of our community means, how we support one another, and how connection helps us grow stronger together.
We’re excited to welcome the Wellbeing Dogs program to our September day!
Offering a gentle and meaningful way for siblings to give and receive care. Children will meet and interact with several dogs through guided activities such as pats and supported engagement, helping build empathy, confidence, and nurturing skills.
*Please note: a basic level of comfort around dogs is required to participate.
The day will also include creative activities like decorating photos and making personalised cards to take home or gift to someone in their community, extending kindness beyond the day.
Alongside this, there’ll be pizza for lunch, afternoon snacks, and plenty of time for games, art and outdoor play (weather permitting), all supported by our wonderful volunteers to ensure a fun and inclusive day.
If your young person/people are interested, please RSVP here. For more information, please contact Andrew (amartell@vsk.org.au/0417 543 514) or Jodie (jvigenser@vsk.org.au/0419 773 294).
More information about the activities and plans for the day will be sent to families who register closer to the dates provided. There will be dogs present throughout the day, and families should consider this in relation to their young people’s experiences and needs ahead of registration.
NOTE – this is a private event for children and families supported by Very Special Kids. We welcome primary aged siblings with a diverse range of lived experiences – whether they currently have, or have had, a brother or sister with a life-limiting condition.
