Volunteer roles
There are a number of ways you can volunteer with Very Special Kids, depending on your interests and availability. Below are our typical volunteer roles:
Fundraising
Help put the ‘fun’ in fundraising by supporting a variety of fundraising and community activities. You may even learn how to drive one of our giant piggy banks.
Events
Put your hospitality skills to the test or take on other support duties to help our many events run smoothly.
In-home family support
Provide personal in-home support to a family with a very special child with regular visits.
Hospice support
Support the hospice team including helping children enjoy art, music and hydrotherapy or assisting with cooking and housekeeping. Our trained therapy dog Jaffa also needs a friend to play with while she’s on her breaks.
Hospital visits
Brighten the days of children while they are staying in The Royal Children’s Hospital or Monash Children’s Hospital with a friendly visit.
Sibling support program coordinators
Bring your creative side to design engaging holiday programs for primary school aged children who have or had a sick brother or sister.
Administration
Welcome visitors to our Malvern office and provide general administration assistance, including answering phones and some computer work.
Gardening
Help maintain our beautiful gardens to be a welcoming and relaxing environment.
