Announcing panel for Footy Fever Debate

On Friday 5 September six game-ready panellists will debate the positives and negatives of the AFL’s equalisation policies by asking the question “Should the AFL support charity clubs?”.

 

On the Yes side we have

  • Andrew Demetriou – businessman, former AFL player and CEO of the AFL for over 10 years up to June 2014
  • Mark Stevens – Chief Football Reporter at Channel Seven
  • Wayne Carey – former AFL player leading North Melbourne to eight consecutive finals appearances including seven straight preliminary finals, three grand finals and two premierships


And on the No side we have

  • Tim Watson – played for Essendon with accolades including three time premiership player, four time Essendon best and fairest, Essendon captain and AFL Hall of Fame inductee
  • Tom Harley – former player and Captain for Geelong leading the club to 2007 and 2009 premierships. He was named Captain of the Year by the AFL Players Association in 2008, which was the same year he gained All-Australian selection for the first time
  • And Greg Champion – an avid AFL fan and Adelaide supporter, Greg has penned many tunes on the Australian game. Of these, the most famous is the iconic “That’s the Thing About Football”


Who will you barrack for?
Hosted by Channel 7’s Jim Wilson, the debate is sure to be entertaining. All proceeds from the event will go the Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal.
