Creative with Art Therapy

A wonderful group of trained Family Support volunteers were involved in a professional development themed Self-Care through Art Therapy during June.

Following a short introduction, the group came together for a visualisation with some soothing music to help meditate away any stress and inspire the creative process.

The workshop discussed the power of using art to create mandalas, which comes from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit and is loosely translated to mean “circle”. Mandalas represent a tool for self- healing and we undertook the process of making one as a whole group.

The group reflected on how they can use mandalas in their own time or as an activity to use in the volunteer role. The volunteers valued the opportunity to tap into their creativity and to reflect on the meaning behind what this meant for them. The end result produced a beautiful, thought-provoking group mandala.
