Summer fun at Lord Somers Camp
March 1, 2017

A wonderful weekend away was enjoyed by 87 family members at the biannual Lord Somers Camp located in Somers on the Mornington Peninsula.
Surrounded by beautiful bushland and overlooking the picturesque beach, families had a rare chance to unwind and have fun together away from everyday challenges
With an ‘under the sea’ theme, children had the opportunity to go stand up paddle boarding, whiz down the slip n slide as well as motorbike rides and beach wheelchair rides.
While the kids had fun, parents were treated to a well-earned break with relaxing massages and pampering at the parents’ retreat.
“We feel so privileged as a family to be part of the Very Special Kids and Lord Somers Camp! The effort, time, planning and kindness never goes unnoticed. We are blessed to have Very Special Kids offer our family and others a stress free weekend away. Thankyou!” – Parent supported by Very Special Kids
“I would like to express my personal gratitude for everything the volunteers have done for our family and on most part my son. The whole weekend at camp provides him with hope and positivity and also allows him to build relationships with others and so much more. A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers.” – Parent supported by Very Special Kids.
The weekend was made possible by Lord Somers Camp and Powerhouse who not only coordinated the whole weekend, but also provided 100 volunteers to assist in making a memorable and fun getaway for the families.
