Volunteer Feedback
May 3, 2017

Volunteering is a fundamental part of the service delivery and fundraising model of Very Special Kids. We are proud that more than 720 volunteers generously give their time to support families of children with life-threatening conditions.
Seeing as Very Special Kids relies heavily on its incredible volunteers, every year we conduct a survey to get feedback to see how we can attract more and make it better for existing volunteers.
See below for some of the key findings:
-70% of volunteers said the most important reason for volunteering at Very Special Kids was to give back to the community and to support Very Special Kids vision
-61% rated their volunteer experience as being ‘excellent’
-100% of volunteers said they would recommend Very Special Kids to someone looking to volunteer, commenting that we are ‘very inclusive’ and ‘it’s such a rewarding experience, you get back much more than you put in’.
-100% of volunteers said they felt proud to be part of Very Special Kids
-75% said that in their role they do not feel they need any special recognition by Very Special Kids but 25% said they enjoy the Volunteer Appreciation Event.
Some general comments we received were:
“I’m so proud to volunteer here, the staff are so kind and caring and they make such a difference to so many lives”
“Your dedication and passion has a huge impact on those around you – thank you”
“You are all very friendly & approachable which is very important to an organization”
“It is a delight to be around such a great group of people”
“Great community spirit generated by dedicated staff and volunteers”
“You’re all amazing, keep up the great work”
We are so happy to have received such fantastic results, and we hope to continue to attract such amazing people to be a part of our team.
