Volunteers make a pig of themselves for Very Special Kids
September 1, 2015

The annual Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal oinked into gear today with a piggy flash mob at Bourke Street Mall. Volunteers wearing pig suits, including girls from Loreto Toorak’s Gymnastics Club, appeared from the crowd to dance to a soulful rendition of “This little piggy went to market”, inspiring the appeal’s first donations.
Piggy Bank Appeal Ambassadors and Seven News Melbourne newsreaders Peter Mitchell and Jennifer Keyte were there to encourage the volunteers and Piggy Bank Appeal partner smoothfm handed out chocolate and pink balloons.
Following today’s launch, the five giant piggy banks, named Penelope, Princess, Patrick, Pete and Pepi, will make their way to stops across Victoria including Melbourne, Torquay, Ballarat, Traralgon, Warrnambool and Shepparton to raise funds for the charity. A giant piggy bank will be stationed at Bourke Street Mall most days in September.
