Honouring Sister Margaret’s legacy on International Women’s Day

March 8, 2025

This International Women’s Day, we pay special tribute to an incredible woman who has left a lasting impact on Very Special Kids: our first employee and patron, the late Sister Margaret Noone IBVM AM, who sadly died on 3 January 2025.

Margaret was the heart and soul of Very Special Kids and a true pioneer of paediatric palliative care in Australia. Her passion, determination and unwavering belief in the need to support families facing childhood life-limiting illness transformed lives.

She championed our work with tireless energy, ensuring families received the tailored support they deserved. Her kindness, wisdom and generosity inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

In a special video tribute, we hear from some of those whose lives were touched by Margaret and reflect on how deeply she was valued – not just as an employee and patron, but as a person.

Her legacy lives on in the work we do every day. The programs she helped to establish, the people she empowered and the change she championed continue to make a difference.

While we mourn her death, we also celebrate the extraordinary woman she was and the lasting impact she has left behind.

On this International Women’s Day, we remember Margaret with gratitude and respect. She was a true force for good and her influence will be felt for generations to come.

We invite you to watch our tribute video and join us in honouring Margaret’s remarkable legacy.
