Holiday accommodation
We believe that time together as a family is very important and a special opportunity to create life-long memories.
At Very Special Kids we offer families two free holiday accommodation options to take a break and spend quality time with each other.
Owned and managed by Very Special Kids, Glen Osmond Farm is just over an hour north-west of Melbourne. Across the other side of the state, Annie’s Cottage is offered exclusively to Very Special Kids families by its generous owners/hosts.
Glen Osmond Farm
Located in the picturesque and leafy suburb of Woodend, Glen Osmond Farm features two purpose-built, homely cottages that can each sleep up to eight people in three bedrooms.
The working farm is the perfect place to relax, get back to nature and take in the wonderful surrounds. Enjoy a nature stroll, capture some wildlife photography, eat al fresco with the kangaroos or enjoy amazing views across to Mount Macedon. During the colder months, get cosy by the gas log fire and enjoy a board game or quiet book.
Each cottage is fully accessible and has a self-contained, fully equipped kitchen with stove, fridge, freezer, coffee machine and microwave. We provide all the linen (bedding and towels) and a portacot, single style hospital bed, lifting hoist and track (BYO sling).
There is also a big barn where you’ll find various bicycles, pool and tennis tables, a pianola and keyboard, ball games and table games.
Annie’s Cottage
Near Bairnsdale, Annie’s Cottage on Chetwyne Farm in Lindenow South, is the perfect coastal escape.
Only 30 minutes from Gippsland’s beautiful beaches, this charming three-bedroom cottage sleeps up to eight and is fully accessible with a self-contained, fully equipped kitchen complete with stove, fridge, freezer and microwave. Bedding, towels and beach towels are supplied.
There’s also a play room, sand pit, bicycles, slides and swing and outdoor living, barbecue and play areas to make the most of the beautiful location.
Most families with children with disabilities and/or chronic illness don’t have the luxury of using their paid or unpaid holiday leave for actual holidays… if you get any holiday leave it’s quickly used up on unexpected hospital stays and illness etc… so to have access to accommodation totally free-of-charge means that so many families can actually go on a holiday. It is purpose built and completely accessible. Set on a beautiful farm in East Gippsland, we were surrounded by sheep and llamas and cows. The kids were in heaven!
